WPPI, Las Vegas

Vegas - LOVE IT!!

WPPI is one crazy-assed HUGE photography convention held every year in Vegas and this year I finally got the chance to go and it was as crazy as I expected!

I saw many great seminars (missed out on some too, as it was so busy, the rooms were closed off!), met up with old friends and made some new ones.

Thanks to the joys of Twitter, I joined a photography shoot-out organised by the fantastic Sachin Khona from London. I made so many new friends from this shoot and I ADORED the lovely Lacy from Utah and Raven from Ohio. They very kindly offered to model for us crazy photographers and what was supposed to be a 10 minute shoot went on for several hours!

Scottish Wedding Directory Sponsored Photography Expert & Vintage style processing...............

This week, I am very honoured to be asked to be the first sponsored photography expert on The Scottish Wedding Directory's forum!

Of all the amazing scottish photographers around, they picked me! Wow! Looking forward to answering questions from brides about photography all week on this thread.

The good thing about this thread is that I also get to ask brides questions about wedding photography etc. So here is my first question.

Vintage processing -

Over the past year or so, I have noticed the new 'trend' of vintage processed wedding photography. It's even being used in general clothing advertising like Modcloth Overall, it's not my style though there are some photographers who I notice do it amazingly well, for example Gill Taylor Photography in Stafford. So much so that when I heard Gill was holding her first workshop on workflow and vintage processing in January past, I attended.... quick smart! But more about that later!

Since her workshop, the first 2 weddings from this year have been very vintage inspired in their details, dresses, even venues. So I have had a play with some of the vintage actions from Gill.

I would love to know what SWD brides think of the vintage processing in wedding photography.

Does it only fit vintage styled weddings, or can it be applied to each and every wedding. For me I shall be offering the option to my brides from now on, in that they can have their album processed as I normally processed which is fun, funky, colourful or the vintage style.

Lynseys Designs commercial shoot - part one

In 2008, I had the distinct pleasure of photographing the stunning wedding of Meaghan and Brent at Falkland Palace.

The beautiful bridal jewellery was skillfully handcrafted by the amazing Lynseys Designs in Glasgow. Last week, Lynsey came through to the (new!) studio for a commercial shoot of some of her new designs.

Lesley Jane Make Up did an amazing job on the hair and make up for our three "models" of the day, all girls who had entered the model competition last month. Pamela was the winner and Lisa & Fiona fantastic runners-up.Lynsey was stylist and shoot co-ordinator for the day, it was awesome to see her beautiful work on gorgeous ladies.

Sneak peek - Claire & Grant's wedding, Old Course Hotel, St Andrews Burgh Chambers & the Seafood Restaurant

It was a frantic weekend in St Andrews with the Old Course wedding fayre one day and a wedding in the town the other!

It was a lovely intimate vintage-styled wedding for Claire and Grant, and a handful of close friends and a special family member. This is a sneak peek of the fantastic day. More soon!

What a fantastic day it was today at the Old Course Wedding Fayre - a well attended and very well organised event.

I spoke to many couples about their wedding photography and there was a great response to the prize draw for free wedding photography coverage.

Old Course Wedding Fayre

NMP will be at the Old Course Hotel's Wedding Fayre this coming Sunday.

it looks like it is going to be a cracker; fashion shows, free mini massages, reduced rate make up, indoor putting.

I am very honoured to be a recommended photographer at the Old Course, and have photographed many weddings there, in fact I am there this weekend!

At the fayre, I am also planning to give away complimentary wedding photography coverage to one lucky couple, and I have a special Old Course Wedding Fayre package, only available at this fayre! This Sunday, 11am to 4pm see you there!
