This is going to be one super duper wedding to blog in full, it was so classy, elegant and as you can see at the end, so much fun too!

Gillian and Mark made quite the entrance to their wedding breakfast and cake cutting. But the funniest moment had to be Gillian shouting "Expecto Patronum" at the end of the speeches!

Before I left, I was asked to take images of the groom's cake, apparently a tradition in the States. And what a cool cake it was.

A year on, this lovely couple are still fighting to be together, but I hear that Gillian's US visa is finalised, just a few loose ends to tie up and Gillian will be winging her way over the pond to her man for good.

It was an honour to photograph your wedding and I so glad you both love the album you ended up with. I wish you both all the luck in the world.

Gillian & Mark's wedding, St Salvator's Chapel & College Halls, St Andrews - part eight

The College Halls of the University of St Andrews provides a quality setting for the wedding breakfast, and is just a short walk across the Quad from the Chapel.

Lots of personal touches were entwined into the historic setting. The "Gill n Tonic" and Mr Philly" were cute table settings for the newlyweds as well as confectionery close to the heart of the couple.

And as for the Art Deco cake? Brought halfway across the country in a Mini Cooper by a talented aunt, it made quite an impression, but sshhh............. most of it is polystyrene!

Now how about this for the ultimate in personalised exits!

As confetti is not allowed in St Salvator's, Gillian decided to find another way to make a grand exit from the chapel. Made from old fabric from the attic, like bits left over from hand-made high school prom dresses, and her mother's own wedding dress, Gillian and her mother made "yay" flags, which were given to the guests on the way out of the church. The newlyweds then proceeded to parade through the flags, while the guests waved the flags, it made for awesome images!

 This following  image is particularly special to the bride.

Gillian tells me; "Two friends crashed our wedding! Years ago, I had joked with them that if I ever got married, they would have to track down where the wedding was, and crash the wedding. I had totally forgotten about it, until I walked out of the chapel with my new husband, and spotted them waving "yay" flags. Nikki caught the exact moment I spotted them and I realised I would have to explain the pact to Mark, which was hilarious!
