Kelly & Matt's pre-wedding session, near Oban

If you are in the wedding industry, you will definitely know the fantastic Balbirnie House as one of Scotland's top wedding venues. I know the venue as a bride AND as a photographer, having got married there myself in 1999! I always enjoy going back there to photograph other people's special days there, and the staff run such a tight ship there.

Kelly has been part of the team at Balbirnie for the past couple of years, as well as working at the Old Course, two top wedding venues, so Kelly was very familiar to me after shot many weddings at each venue.  It was then lovely to receive an email asking if I would photograph herself and her boyfriend, as a reminder of Scotland before they emigrate down under (and she says this would be the nearest thing to me photographing their wedding as they are getting married in Brisbane!)

It was lovely to be asked to photograph Kelly and Aussie Matt and we chose the Highlands, because where else can you capture the true views of Scotland?! The shoot was done one beautiful afternoon, near Oban,  and the light was just breath-taking, we seriously could NOT have asked for better lighting on the stunning scenery.

All the very very best Kelly & Matt, and congratulations on your official engagement recently!

Anita & Grant's wedding, Barcaldine Castle, Oban - part twelve

After the meal, I pulled the newlyweds outside as the light was so beautiful over Loch Creran. But soon they joined their guests for some more dancing and moments together.

It was a wonderful day, and certainly a wedding I won't forget.

But this wasn't the last I was to see of Anita.......

Anita & Grant's wedding, Barcaldine Castle, Oban - part ten

Details were recorded as the speeches were being prepared. And boy, awesome speeches. Granted, half of us hadn't a CLUE what was being said by the Father of the Bride as his whole speech was in German. But the love for his daughter was inevitable, and it had us ALL in tears (thank goodness for auto-focus!).

Grant also did an amazing job and kept the tears flowing with his bilingual speech.

Anita & Grant's wedding, Barcaldine Castle, Oban - part nine

The Great Hall had been transformed into a wonderful wedding breakfast venue, with a long table beautifully decorated with personal touches from the bride herself.  Before the meal, Anita had organised the piper to play while local lassies showed us their Highland Dancing skills.
