Isla & Stuart's wedding - Balgonie Castle & Balbirnie House

It is always nice to go back to venues that are special; Balbirnie is always special to me having got married there myself nearly 9 years ago.

It is also special to photograph weddings for people that have already played a part in my life before I started the business 8 years ago - this was the case with Isla who I worked with, many many years ago.

Isla and Stuart are a gorgeous couple in all senses of the word; daft about each other as well as in themselves, he even proposed up a mountain, as stated on the back of the table name of the top table! After a gorgeous wedding at Balgonie Castle, it was back to Balbirnie for a laugh and a cuddle!
One important guest of honour was Fluke the dog.
The father/daughter speech always gets me, this moment straight after dad finished his speech is just adorable! And a romantic first dance to finish a glorious day!
With many thanks to Chris for his assistance on the day, and proving the entertainment for the kids by the look of this image!
If you would like to see the complete portfolio of images from this wedding, when it is released online (the couple will see them first on return from honeymoon), email me on nikki@nikkimcleodphotography.com with the groom's surname and bride's maiden name in the email, and I can send you the password when it is released.
Some wedding details;

Band; Big Night Out
Bride’s dress & Bridesmaids dresses; bought at Butterflies in Edinburgh
Stationery: bride made herself with calligraphy by her 90 year old uncle
Phew, blogging on the day is hard work! But needs must as I jump on a plane tomorrow for a trip to Paris with an amazing Australian photographer who is going to teach me how to take even more amazing images!!

Katie & Keith's wedding - St Mary Magdalene's Church & Invercarse Hotel, Dundee

Well I am on a blogging roll just now, so I may as well blog yesterday's wedding too!! And what a cracker it was!!

Katie & Keith are my kinda couple; lovely personalities, good-looking, so in love with each other, and totally "into" photography. They knew that in order to get the photography I show on the website and blog, and in my sample albums, I need some time with them alone. At the recce, we decided that this would be best done in their church which is so beautiful.

Aye and the groom's no bad looking either.....
And as for katie's girls..... wow when they turned up, I thought they were going to upstage Katie on her big day, stunning, stunning, stunning....I love this photojournalistic image, the last moment with her dad before she walks down the aisle....
But guess what, Katie was............... an angel almost!I love this image too, quite cool in tones compared to what I normally shoot, but I just love it.....I mean, come on, isn't this just a beautiful young lady...........? I absolutely loved her Ronald Joyce dress.Aye he's still no badlooking either............ But again, look at these lassies; aren't they just like something of a page of Vogue?! I said at the start that they valued the photography.....this really hit home when the starter was just about to served at the wedding breakfast and Keith approached me..

"Nikki, I don't think I have ever seen Katie look so stunning, and I want to make sure there is as many pictures of her as possible, is there somewhere else in the hotel we can take some more?"

I was gobsmacked!! Not only was the meal just about to be served, but here was a couple that actually wanted MORE of a couples session!!!!! And as if I would say no!! This is my favourite part of the day!

And you know what, I ended up getting the best images of the day, in this 5 minute shoot!

And aren't these guys just the cutest?!

Enjoy Thailand guys, see you on your return.

And thanks to Stefan for being my assistant for the day!

A double family "Bloodline" session

Last weekend was really busy, no wonder I haven't blogged about it!

As well as Nadine & James' wedding in Glasgow, I was in St Andrews, at the Fairmont St Andrews Hotel, meeting lots of lovely potential clients at the first wedding fayre to be held at the hotel. I am really lucky to be a preferred vendor at both of the top class hotels in the town; the Fairmont and the Old Course. I am looking forward to another top class wedding at the Old Course later this month.

I was also busy with a "Bloodline" session here in the Bay, last weekend. It was great to have Sophie & Lucy and their mum Sarah back at NMP for a repeat session. The trio braved the Bay weather last year, in order to get some great images for their dad's birthday.

This time, dad was invited along to the session, as well as Sarah's sister and her husband and their two kids, Charlotte & James.

The day the session was booked was a day of all seasons and the session was almost postponed as it was bitterly cold and we had planned to go to the Sailing Club in Dalgety Bay. That's the joys of environmental portraiture in Scotland, you really are in the hands of the gods!

It was decided just to go ahead with the session anyway, and as it was, the rain stayed off, the sun came out and we got some amazing images!!

I was told I would struggle to get a good image of young Matthew.... I think I did not too badly with this one!

My favourite image of the day! This portfolio is going online in full tomorrow, contact the families in question for the password.

Nadine & James' wedding - House for an Art Lover, Glasgow

As I was downloading the images from yesterday's fabulous wedding in Dundee, I was getting some of those images ready for this blog when I realised I hadn't blogged last week's wedding yet!! The images were all ready for blogging, I just completely forgot!

Apologies for all those waiting for this - here is is; the amazing wedding of Nadine & James.

On arrival at the home of Nadine's parents in the morning, I had to laugh at this card; well, Nadine was about to become Mrs Hare!
Nadine had planned a very different style of wedding..... Her amazing dress was designed by Lyndsey Fleming in the borders, specialists in designer couture mediveal and celtic wedding dresses, and stunning they are too. After an "interesting" morning with the bride and her family (ask the bride!), she arrived in one piece, floating down the staircase of the House for an Art Lover in Bellahouston Park, looking absolutely amazing. I have been looking forward to shooting in this venue for years now, it really is a little hidden gem in the city of Glasgow. And give amazing opportunities for amazing imagery!
The weather didn't play ball but so what, said the couple! They decided to still go out and have fun!

Yes that is a foot!! The architecture and art in the grounds of this venue are unusual, quirky and fun; ideal for my kinda wedding couples!
With all the drama of the morning, I am sure Nadine and James will look back on their wedding day with laughter; it all ended up fine in the end.

Enjoy Australia guys, keep smiling! And many thanks again to Roy, for assisting me at this wedding and for filling in at the last minute when my original booked assistant backed out on me.

New look blog!!

I have been having a little tidy up of the blog, it looks much better now and more in tune with the website.

Just to let everyone know that at present I cannot take debit or credit card payments for any orders.

Some kind soul is determined to make my life hell at the moment; not content with stealing my personal identity and personal bank account details, my business online credit card terminal has been hacked and over the weekend I had SEVEN THOUSAND transactions onto my account; it would be very nice if I actually wanted £40,000 but not illegally!!

Coming soon - Corrina & Nick's wedding

What do you get if you cross a 15 hour job, with 4 venues, a stunning Doctor bride, a car loving "vain" groom and sun, rain, wind and sleet?!?

Corrina & Nick's wedding this past Saturday that's what!!

What a day, it was amazing; and I quietly died in my bed on Sunday after leaving the house on Saturday at 10am and not getting back till 1.30am on the Sunday morning!

Hence the reason why I haven't blogged the wedding yet, I have just been SO tired over the past couple of days and my back wouldn't allow me to spend too much time in front of the computer!

But I promise I shall have some images for you all to mooch at in the next day or two, I know by the emails that have been coming in from the guests, they are eagerly awaited!

Even the bride and groom took time out from jumping on a plane in London to text me!

"Hi Nikki, just wanted to say a massive thanks! You were over and beyond the call of duty. SO many people said how fantastic your photos were. We cannot wait to see them next month! Hope you have had a well earned rest after your 15 hour day for us! Thanks again. Just waiting to board our plane. Very excited! Thanks again, you were amazing!"

Kind words.... {blush}

Wow, that was a bit of a mental weekend..... I am bush-whacked..... Don't think I am totally over this flu bug, and my sinuses are giving me SUCH grief!! Oh well, next 2 weekends off!! Woo HOO!!

I have been getting lots of kind words in emails recently; I am so happy that my clients love the work I am providing for them.

From the new Mrs Wild, on arrival at their 2nd port of call on honeymoon, not having seen any images except those on the blog!

"I just wanted to email you to Thank you for such a fantastic day. You were absolutely brilliant, and i'm so impressed with the photos i've seen already I cant wait to see the rest of them - i cant imagine it being easy asking you to leave any of the photos out!! You did a wonderful job on the day, got chris and i away from people for a while which i think was the only time we spent together properly on the day, you blended in a lot of the time and we didnt even notice you were there. I am so incredibly impressed by your service and now couldnt even dream that we may have ever used another photographer. Thank you so much for your attention prior to the day, on the day and even afterwards - there has never been a single fault in anything you've done - thank you so much. I'm not terribly good at articulating what i'm thinking, but i do hope this email gives you a vague idea of how greatful I am for everything you've done for us I cant wait to see the slideshow!! Lots of love and gratitude
xxx Vicki xxx"

Then on first viewing of their mini slideshow....
"You've had me and my mum both crying - that looks absolutely amazing!! I cant believe it - i'm so overwhelmed by how fantastic that looks, i just cant believe it. Cant wait to show the boys when they get back from shopping (for beer, we havent got them doing womenly things!!)"

And then viewing ALL their images from the wedding...
"We got the photos - they are absolutely brilliant, i cant believe it!! you had me in tears all over again - i dont think i cried this much on the wedding day, maybe i'm just hormonal!! he he he!!"

Even the Mother of the Bride had nice words to say
"Thank you for your efforts on the day, you slotted in with the family at the flat and were onobtrusive during the day's proceedings. I appreciate that it was a long day for you and want to thank you and your partner"

And today after the Bling sessions, I got lovely emails too....

From Audrey & Jim..
"Thanks Nikki, they look great. We're going to go with number 13, although it wasn't easy deciding!"

And Corrina & Nick...
"OH MY GOD they're sooooo fab!!!! We love them all!! We've been bouncing around since we got back and saw them online. So excited! We will def let you know in the next couple of days which photo we'd like framed. We've narrowed it down to two so far, but it was tough! Our wedding photos are going to be so great!! Thank you so much. Was great to see you again and so exciting doing the recce."

Fab!
