Anita & Grant's wedding, Barcaldine Castle, Oban - part one

So over the year prior to the wedding, Anita and I spent a LOT of time chatting on Facebook, she even invited me to her final dress fitting at Berkertex Bride in Glasgow.

But all too soon, it was the final week before the wedding....... and boy is this a story and a half....

I am sitting in the studio, getting my gear ready for the travel to Oban in a couple of days time and I hear on the radio that there are ash cloud problems again and flights are being cancelled. I knew this was the day that Anita's family were due to fly over from Germany to Scotland for the wedding.  Lots of frantic phone calls later,  Anita's mum, dad and gran had to fly to Liverpool and train it up to Glasgow.... All fine, until you realise that none of them speak any English....  They eventually arrived in Glasgow after midnight, needing a good sleep for the travel up to Oban the next day...... And while this was going on, Anita was panicking about her cake; she went to pick it up from the shop in Dumbarton, only to find the shop closed and no-one answering their phone!

I was due to meet them at the castle that afternoon, the day before W-Day, and arrived before them.... weird, considering I had much more distance to travel than them... It appears that after going up the windy road alongside of Loch Lomond, Grant realised he had left his plaid at home, and had to drive ALL the way back down that windy road... NIGHTMARE!! And of course in the morning, before they had even left, the cake had to be collected....

You would hope that that would that! End of stress, no more drama...... nope...

I eventually meet up with the couple, we do a recce around the area, particularly at Tralee Beach, where they have given me several hours on the wedding day for images at. We get back to the castle to decorate the cake, and have some tea, when it suddenly hits Anita... Due to the delays in getting up to the castle, they have forgotten to go into Oban and pick up the marriage schedule... and they don't have any ID on them, which they fear they may have to have with them, in order to collect it. The whole wedding day is now in jeopardy for if they don't have a marriage schedule, they cannot legally marry!

After much deliberation, it was decided to go to the registry office first thing in the morning and hope for the best!

Fortunately the news was good in the morning; the certificate was picked up, along with the flowers that were forgotten about too!

At last Tatiana of Esteem Make-over could start on the bride's hair and make-up.
