Anita & Grant's wedding, Barcaldine Castle, Oban - part six

The ceremony was meant to be held outside in the castle gardens, but the storms in the lead up to our arrival, and the rain the day before pushed the ceremony inside to the Great Hall.

Bill Bedborough did an amazing humanist ceremony for the couple. Humanist ceremonies are very personal and very different from civil or religious weddings. Bill had even been really thoughtful and printed out the whole ceremony in German for Anita's family, so they could follow the proceedings better.

There were many different special parts of the ceremony;

- a candle lighting for those sadly no longer with us
- a reading by a special friend
- a hand-fasting (tying the knot)
- a ring warming by all the guests
- a drink from the quaich
and finally jumping the broom!
